Video shows how easy is was to retro fit a “Captive Drum” servo into my 1/20 scale Jolie Brise in place of the SLA battery. The tall drum housing has been replaced with a lower white version which needs the provided special low friction cord to work correctly.
 


 

1. Captive Drum Technology

The drum housing fits onto four spigots on the servo and has two slots for the sail sheet cords. The drum is held on the servo shaft by a screw. Can be used without the housing
This system does away with all those pulleys set around the inside of the hull. No more fidderly springs or rubber bands to tension the sail cord. How do you re–thread the pulley in the bow?
 
There are two types of “Captive Drum” servos, Analog and Digital and each have two different powers, speeds and sail sheet travel.

 
The Digital servos are reprogrammable once free of charge if returned to SailServo by recorder delivery. The software to reprogramme the servos is difficult to use as it was not designed to be used by consumers. If we damage the PCB we pay not you.
The sheet travel on Analog servos can be altered using End Point Adjuster.

These two Digital servos are the same except for their gearing. One is very fast but less powerful and the other more powerful but slower.

A meaningful method of showing all Sailservo's servo data.
Servo Motor speed should not be run below 40% speed drop. Between 20 and 40% is reasonable for intermittent usage and less than 10% for heavy continuous usage.


 

 

4. Returns

SailServo must be contacted before returning goods.
All servos undergo a rigorous 10 min test over 50 cycles under loads upto 3.0kg.
Only use this servo within the specified loads and input signal ranges.
Burnt out servos can be replaced at half price plus postage. Must be returned first.
